In the Badplaas community, it's estimated that over 100 children and adolescents are currently living in households without the care and supervision of a responsible adult. These child-headed households face an array of daunting challenges, including: Food insecurity and malnutrition Lack of access to healthcare and essential medical care Inadequate supervision, safety, and protection Difficulties maintaining stable school attendance and performance Increased risk of exploitation, abuse, and involvement in illegal activities The R50,000 fundraising target would allow MYCO to comprehensively address the needs of these youth through a multi-faceted support program, including: Providing consistent, nutritious meals and food supplies for the household Connecting families with social services, counseling, and legal aid resources Ensuring access to educational tutoring, school supplies, and extracurricular activities Delivering life skills training to help children manage household responsibilities Advocating for policy changes and greater community investment in child welfare By investing in this initiative, you can help MYCO empower these young caretakers, safeguard their wellbeing, and give them the tools to build a brighter future - both for themselves and their families.
