Help Uplands Outreach raise R39,000 for Coding and Robotics lessons in rural schools
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
In 2024 the Department of Basic Education amended the national curriculum to include the teaching of Coding and Robotics in Grades 1 to 9. The incorporation of Robotics provides learners with hands-on experience and practical exposure to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education. Adding Coding and Robotics to the curriculum provides numerous benefits as it encourages learners to think outside the box and to solve complex problems. It also promotes innovation and creativity. Robotics education is in fact essential for equipping our youth with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world as it offers a powerful teaching methodology that empowers young people to shape their futures and prepares them for the challenges ahead. However, for schools in our rural communities, the teaching of Coding and Robotics is a challenge because of the lack of access to technology and the training of educators in this subject. In a nutshell, the Coding and Robotics Programme aims to equip primary school teachers with skills and confidence to use Robotics kits in their classrooms. From there, learners can solve problems together, think creatively and feel part of the digital world. Uplands Outreach is working with a number of schools in rural Mpumalanga to ‘raise achievement for all’. We appeal to those who understand the importance of technology in education to consider making a donation towards this meaningful programme.
