Help Foundation for Children with Hearing Loss in SA raise R89,000 for a school bursary fund for a deaf child in need.
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
We raise funds towards school bursaries for deaf children from economically poor homes to enable them to receive the best possible oral education at Eduplex. Eduplex is a mainstream school including a small number of deaf children in each class, serving as a model for inclusive education internationally. We also assist these underprivileged children to obtain amplification devices – hearing aids and cochlear implants. Our goal is to raise the required school fees applicable for a time period of 11 months per child in need. These fees will include the necessary audiological management and school requirements. When hearing loss occurs at an early age, there is an impact on the development of spoken language, on reading ability and educational attainment, and, ultimately, on employ-ability. The successful inclusion of children with hearing loss in our school system relies on the belief that all children have equal access to a quality education, and to embrace all children, irrespective of race, gender or socio-economic status. These learners are able to meet their unique needs and prepare them for further education, employment and independent living in the future. The minimum donation amount to qualify for an 18A certificate is R100.
