Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

The innovative solution of sound, a cochlear implant, referring to the gift of hearing, gives someone with profound hearing loss access to sound and therefore a way of communication to be integrated into society as well as ultimate independence. This miracle device has enabled thousands of persons to gain highly beneficial employment/education that was previously impossible to even consider, thus increasing the enjoyment and improved quality of many lives. A dire need was established among cochlear implant candidates for raising additional funds to afford this procedure as these imported cochlear implant devices are costly and medical aid contributions aren’t able to cover the full amount. When patients attempt to raise funds on their own, it often takes years, making their outcomes with a cochlear implant less favourable due to auditory deprivation. Many patients are not in the position to afford medical aid, which makes the cost involved even higher. The Foundation for Children with Hearing Loss therefore started a dedicated division to raise funds to cover the shortfall left by medical aid contributions, as well as for patients who cannot afford medical aid to contribute towards this life-changing operation.
