for business

An engaged and talented employee that fits well into an organisation performs higher than the average and work better.

You want this person in your business. They are talented, driven, and get you results. Amazing. The problem is that most companies are ignoring one of the crucial elements that keeps these employees working for them. Engagement.

Yes, the term is tired. Yes, there are plenty of surveys that explain why engagement is important and how you are failing at it. There are also plenty of statistics that showcase the brilliance of the engaged employee:

Disengaged employees cost the world $8.8 trillion in lost productivity and more than half of employees (59%) are quiet quitting (express their disengagement through a lack of enthusiasm during tasks), and 18% are actively disengaged (Gallup, 2024).

Multiple surveys share the above data findings, but few tell you how to achieve it.

Until now.

Creating a culture of corporate volunteering hits the employee high note. It gets their attention. It makes them feel that they are part of something. It inspires, ignites and interests. It is also very easy to implement.

Now is the time to put an employee volunteering programme (EVP) into play. Now is the time to set EVP as a key performance indicator (KPI). Now is the time to tap into a global mega trend that has employees picking companies that are all about giving back. Think this is hype?

Deloitte's long-standing Global Gen Z and Millennial Survey found that the Gen Zs and Millennials are losing faith in business. They want volunteering, they want ethics, they want to work for companies that are ‘agents of positive change’.

You can ignore this insight. Walk away. It’s fine. But it’s just as easy to kick your EVP into gear. Right now, right here.
