Makabongwe PreSchool

Deep in the heart of Durban, directly opposite Central Fire Station and through a hole in the wall, literally, is Makabongwe Preschool. The school has been serving the inner city community for 25 years and is a real success story. It was started to help the children of the street traders in Warwick triangle – who would otherwise be denied an early childhood education and has grown to 180 children aged 3 to 6 years. Our children love attending school and learning in a safe, structured environment. Anyone who visits is amazed by our wonderful facilities – all of which have been donated. The children also receive two nutritious meals daily; again, the kitchen was donated, and most food costs were sponsored. Our parents are finding it increasingly difficult to pay the nominal fees. Our ongoing challenge is balancing providing education for the underprivileged with the need to cover our salaries and costs. Makabongwe is a registered NPO and can issue Section 18A certificates...
