Period Poverty is a very real challenge that the average African girl child faces. Period Poverty refers to lack of education regarding a woman's menstrual health and hygiene, the inadequate access to menstrual hygiene products and unsuitable methods to dispose of menstrual waste. The average girl misses 7 days of school per month, which equates to 3 months a year. Girls and women who don't have access to menstrual products seek out alternatives which usually result in little to no protection, leaking of menstrual flow and severe infections.
