Help Masicorp by donating hula hoops for pre-school children from the Masiphumelele community

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Masicorp manages two educares in the community of Masiphumelele - and together these schools care for nearly 300 children between the ages of 18 months and Grade R. These schools provide an affordable, safe, well run and educational experience for the children in their care. Many of the informal creches in the community are run by business owners with no childcare or teaching experience and unable to adequately provide stimulation and education for the children they look after. Masicorp works with these informal creches at our two educares in order to raise the standard of education in the community and providing a good foundation for future learning. We have ongoing needs for toys, equipment and stationery at these two centres. We recently launched a weekly ''sports day'' and have realized a need for good quality and sturdy hula hoops which could be used during these activities. About Masicorp & Masiphumelele The township of Masiphumelele, Cape Town is home to a community of approximately 40 000 people, displaced and disadvantaged by the historical legacy of apartheid. Today, Masiphumelele continues to face daily challenges unimaginable for those on the outside. This impoverished community is constantly at risk due to fire, flooding, high crime rates, as well as lack of adequate housing and access to clean water/sanitation. Access to education and skills training is beyond the reach of the majority of the residents. Many families are single parent households and youth unemployment is high in this community (estimated to be around 70%). Masicorp has been working for Masiphumelele since 1999. From 2009 onwards, we started focusing specifically on education and skills training programs, with the aim to offer struggling residents a route out of poverty. Our programmes span early childhood development, primary & high school intervnetions in Maths & Science, as well as Tertiary programmes and adult skills development in computers and sewing. Each year over 6000 members of this community benefit from our work.
