Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
This is a call individuals living in the Western Cape to kindly Volunteer their Services in the roles of Ushers, Technical Crew & Waitrons at the Launch Guests that we will be pitching to include the US Consulate, Canadian Consulate, SAPS and the Minister of Police Oversight and several Foundations. The Launch is scheduled for 27 April 24 at the Maitland Town Hall in the Western Cape. This is a simple hand gesture created by the Women's Funding Network and the Canadian Women's Foundation is important as it's non-verbal, is powerful and regardless of language and culture. The sign was developed to be silently displayed during video calls, to alert family, friends or colleagues, that an individual needs help and can be used in public as well.. To see the efficacy of the signal please watch a real life incident the video using this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GfsS4HH2Uw : In addition to the Signal itself, the Campaign will include details of community & other resources for people who have seen the Signal. This is essential for those who see the signal so they can safely support someone experiencing abuse. The Nationwide Campaign based on the Canadian Women’s Foundation elements, will include a massive Nationwide Print Campaign, Road Shows , Social Media Platforms , Free Downloadable Hand Signal Responder Guides will be presented at the event. We have confirmed that the hand sign does not represent any symbol or letter in the South African Sign Language alphabet.
