Help Ya Bana Village for the children by donating welcome to womanhood care packages for our Ya Bana Village and neighbourhood girls in need
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Coming of age is a magical time, a major life passage. It is also a great event to teach girls – especially vulnerable girls – of their inherent power as women. Menstruation is usually experienced as a burden, a secret, a joke or an embarrassment! We want to teach our girls that it is a blessing and treasure – just like their bodies. We want girls that are self-confident, girls that can say no and be listened to and girls that believe in themselves to change the course of their lives. A positive first menstruation can play an important role in a girl’s body image and image of herself. We would love to be able to treat our Ya Bana Village girls and girls of our surrounding neighbourhood that are part of our outreach program to a lovingly created womanhood care package. The items can be placed in a shoebox. Suggestions for items: pads, panty liners, tampons, face cloth, soap, deodorant, moisturising lotion; an inspirational message/ card/ book/ quote, warm water bottle (we do not have microwaves for bags) and CHOCOLATE. Anything really, just as long as it was put together in a loving and thoughtful way. Get a group of friends together and have meaningful fun. Delivery in Pretoria-East.
Helpful tips
Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
- 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
- 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
- 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
- 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
