How can you help?

Help Phakamani Young Minds Academy by Donating Desktops for learning computer literacy for our young minds in the afterschool programme.

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

At Phakamani Young Minds Academy, we believe that computer literacy is essential for preparing our learners for the digital world. Many of the young people we work with lack access to basic technology, which limits their opportunities in an increasingly digital world. We are seeking a donation of 50 desktop computers to help us launch a computer literacy programme for our learners. These desktops will enable us to provide essential skills, including typing, navigating the internet, and using basic software. With your support, we can equip our learners with the tools they need to thrive in school, access better opportunities, and develop skills for a brighter future.

Helpful tips

Stay safe

  1. 1Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
  2. 2When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
  3. 3Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
  4. 4Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
  5. 5If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
  6. 6Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
  7. 7Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
