Treating our patients holistically helps them better

After my husband left us for another woman me and my child suffered a lot because I’m unemployed and don’t have work permits since I’m from Zimbabwe and came to South Africa for a better life. We moved out from what I used to call home to another place around Diepsloot”. “It was in the early in the morning during the week when I was wondering where to find food and surprisingly the EPW’s volunteers from WHCW knocked at my door, that knock was a turning point of my struggles. They advised me to take the child to the mobile clinic for immunization and on consultation I was told that my child has kwashiorkor with no acute condition. I was devastated and scared that I might lose my child but Nurse Christina Radzilane referred me to a Social worker who greatly helped my child with milk and food parcels. Through their explanation I was able to learn what kwashiorkor is and how to treat it. My child is now healthy and I even got a piece job that helps me to provide for us. All I can say God bless WHWC staff for not judging people for their ethnicity or race.”
