The Noluthando Sheltered Employment Trust (NSET) Protective Workshop opened on 28 October 2021, providing sheltered employment for young Autistic and differently abled adults in Khayelitsha. ● NSET addresses educational and employment barriers for the disabled, the facility offers a safe environment for skill development and community integration. ● offering programs like jewellery candle making, life skills, and gardening and hospitality. The program aims to ensure that disabled young adults have equitable access to life-long learning, training and capacity building and can participate fully and equally in the mainstream of the economy. NSET programs range from respite care and stimulation for trainees with higher support needs to open labor market preparedness, employment, as well as support for low support needs.
