Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary The Sanctuary provides permanent refuge and care for abused, neglected and elderly donkeys. Eseltjiesrus is committed to preventing cruelty and relieving the suffering of donkeys. Visits by children and adults with special needs are welcomed. We promote the motto: “A culture of caring”.
 We create an awareness of kindness for those living creatures that are weak, humble and viewed as the underdogs of civilization, often deemed to be unworthy of care or attention. Our actions and educational activities relate to the broader picture of caring not only for donkeys, but all living creatures. Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary strives to be a beacon of hope – hope that more compassion, gentleness and caring will be created in our society.
