Helshoogte

Helshoogte's vision & mission:

Our vision is to invest in relationships amongst Helshoogters to create an enabling, welcoming, and positive male community with an authentic sense of belonging to something bigger than ourselves, through the value of Ubuntu (I am because we are) which is at the core of this vision. A community where each individual voice is valued and empowered, moving forward – together – to new heights. Our long-term vision is to become the premier male community in South Africa, and we believe that we have made massive strides towards this vision in the past 5 years in our community. We now look to the external sphere, where we strive to be a pioneer for sustainable male communities, that sees individuals learn to be meaningful contributors to their surrounding environment.

Approaching, being approachable and fostering a culture that is continuously welcoming, enabling, and accessible to all. Creating a welcoming and positive male environment – an environment conducive to relationship-building. By fostering a culture of Ubuntu, we will realise flourishing relationships. Our mission is to create inspiring moments which facilitate personal growth and development, while allowing value-driven leadership to empower individuals, in line with BRUT as our core values.

In addition to this, striving towards holding each other accountable for our actions. We aim to create a  community in which there is no shying away from difficult conversations and we all keep each other accountable for the actions and cultures we perpetuate in society. This will, in turn, make Helshoogte a steppingstone where the lessons learned within our walls are taken out of the building and into the real world where they will be used to add value to society. Aiming to inspire other male spaces to have the same introspection, leading to a better society as a whole.

What are we currently doing?

The Green Door Project - The green door project is aimed to assist the after-school facility in Jamestown with the development of academic high-risk pupils from Grade 1-4. We will be visiting the school once a term to continuously improve and aid this project.
