Inkwenkwezi Youth Development Sporting Foundation is a rural youth-led, non-governmental, not-for-profit company – using the power of sport and play to educate, inspire and mobilize at-risk children in Ngqushwa local municipality, Peddie – Eastern Cape – established in 2017 with the strategic intent to help loosen the bolts and nuts of the poverty trap, close the widening inequity gap and to tackle joblessness, in the context of early childhood learning; and youth learning and career pathways. IYDS Foundation is one of the organizations currently implementing the 3rd round of the National Youth Serviceprogramme with effect from the 1st of October 2024 - 31st of March 2025 . The NYS is part of the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention, the largest NYS programme on the African continent – community service contributing to social cohesion and nation building, whilst growing individual skills and employability. Further, the NYS programme is the first entry, safety net job – conceptualized to curb high levels of youth unemployment with the strategic vision to transiton participants to other career and learning pathways. Therefore, the NYS programme is the national imperative that envisions a transformative society, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the National Development Plan, while emphasizing strategic deployment, youth empowerment, skills transfer; donor funding and government support. In this context, a total of 100 NYS participants has been recruited and placed. Key NYS participants’ commitments: Employability; Community Service; Engaging physical fitness and avoidance of anti-social, risky behaviors. Thus, the Expo is envisaged to achieve the following main strategic objective: Mobilize technical and financial financial capacitated partners to become strategic partners, events partners, action partners, impact partners and funding partners to ensure that the NYS participants transition or exit to other career and learning pathways.
