This Mandela Day, Uviwe once again demonstrated its commitment to empowering and uplifting the community, with a series of activities that brought joy, learning, and service to its members.

At the Boys and Girls Club, the teens had an exciting day learning about the life and values of Nelson Mandela. They engaged in discussions about peace, equality, and justice, exploring why these values are so important. The teens then channeled their creativity into making vibrant posters that reflected these themes, transforming the day into an educational yet fun experience. Their enthusiasm for celebrating Mandela's legacy was a testament to Uviwe's ability to engage young minds in meaningful and impactful activities.

The youngest members of Uviwe, at the Early Childhood Development (ECD) center in Schauderville, also got into the spirit of Mandela Day by dedicating their 67 minutes to cleaning their playground. The little ones took pride in their efforts, contributing to the upkeep of their center. Uviwe received a generous donation of cleaning materials from Standard Bank, ensuring that the center remains a clean and safe space for the children. This gesture not only enhanced the children's efforts but also contributed to their overall health and well-being.

Additionally, the ECD center in Schauderville was visited by a group of Art Therapists from Ursuline College in the United States. The therapists spent a joyful morning engaging the children in creative activities, song, and dance. It was a memorable and enriching experience for the children, fostering self-expression and creativity.

Uviwe’s long-standing partnership with United Through Sport once again enabled this wonderful international collaboration, showing the organization's continued dedication to creating positive, cross-cultural experiences for its community.

Mandela Day 2024 at Uviwe was a celebration of community spirit, learning, and service. The day was filled with activities that honored Nelson Mandela's legacy while empowering both young and old to take an active role in making a difference.

Uviwe’s efforts are a shining example of how organizations can continue to inspire and uplift through service, education, and collaboration.
