Help Greendale House Palliative & Hospice Care (HospiceWits) by donating your preloved items (all items accepted) for resale in our charity shops
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Greendale House is a registered nonprofit which operates four charity shops across Johannesburg. The money we raise from our shops goes to support our specialist palliative and end-of-life care for local patients without financial means. Currently, one in four of our patients and their families have their care funded through donations of goods to our shops. For 30 years, our charity shops have been stocked entirely by donated goods from residents like you that want to support our cause. We resell the vast majority of donated items, giving new life to books, clothes, furniture, and more, while promoting environmental responsibility. But stocking our shelves is always a challenge, and we depend on the help of people like you to keep our charity shops going. Crisis in Palliative and End-of-Life Care When my mom passed away two years ago, I was grateful for the amazing care she received. Unfortunately, many in Johannesburg don't receive adequate palliative care due to the crisis in the Gauteng health system. Often, hospitals discharge patients prematurely due to cost or capacity, leading to unnecessary suffering and premature death. HospiceWits fills this gap by offering free professional care for patients below the poverty line, funded in large part through our charity shops. Here’s our challenge: We need a ton of donated items every month to operate our shops. Tough times (as we have now) mean fewer quality donated items, resulting in fewer donations and less funding.
Helpful tips
Stay safe
