Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Lesedi la Batho Community Centre supports and empowers women who have survived gender-based violence. Our free services include group and one-on-one counselling, technical and life skills training, social relief and small business development. We strive to see vulnerable women rise above their abusive pasts and become financially independent. Sadly, this year we have seen a rise in house fires in our community, either due to paraffin fires or abusers burning down the homes of women and children, leaving them stranded, homeless and reliant. The victims lose everything - their home, clothing, food, documents and furniture. We fundraise to rebuild homes, and are seeking secondhand furniture donations from the public to help these families rebuild their living situation. If you are updating or cleaning out your home and looking for a worthy cause to donate furniture to, please consider reaching out to us! Items needed: Beds and bedding Desks Chairs Tables Cabinets Curtains

Helpful tips

Stay safe

  1. 1Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
  2. 2When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
  3. 3Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
  4. 4Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
  5. 5If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
