Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
While our camps are already equipped to operate at full steam ahead, it is often access to the shops that actually stock many of the items below that makes it difficult to replenish our supplies. If you have any of the items listed below lying around at home and are not using them, please send them along. We’ll be sure to make good use of them. The more we can re-use instead of buying new, the better; it’s part of our sustainability principle. GENERAL WILDLIFE ACT WISHLIST AS SUGGESTED BY VOLUNTEERS & MONITORS: Frying pans Coffee plungers Tools & small toolbox Decent kitchen knives Mugs and wine glasses Rope, string, cable ties SD cards (Sandisk 8Gb) Reusable Shopping Bags Measuring cups/spoons/jugs Tupperware/plastic containers Power Banks (for charging cellphones) Pens, pencils, rubber bands, Sellotape Photos/pictures/artwork to brighten up our camps Old books (we love field guides and natural history books) Ink cartridges (HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1515 / 2515 models) Cutlery (some of our cutlery is looking a bit mismatched and tired) Car washing equipment, such as sponges, Chamois, polish, etc. Reusable mesh bags for fresh fruit and vegetables – See Freshbags.co.za AmazonBasics AA Rechargeable Batteries (available in the UK and US) Flasks (hot tea and coffee are vital, when your morning starts at 4am) – to fill 6 mugs! Filter coffee (volunteers and staff love their coffee but good coffee is an expensive luxury) Laptops (If you have recently upgraded and were wondering what to do with your older laptop) Binoculars (Often our volunteers bring their own but it would be great to have a few pairs for the volunteers who don’t have a pair if you have an old pair that you aren’t using any more) Power drill / Electric drill (cordless, powerful 18V) for camera trap setup and camp maintenance. Vehicle spot light with a long beam and red filter (approx 1000 lumen 731 metre) Angle grinder Camping chairs Lawnmower (petrol) Solar lanterns Portable projector Small Fans Solar Fairy lights Mosquito Nets Couch for recreation area Battery charger for AA batteries Any equipment/items which would help us to build camera traps and maintain & make our camps more comfortable and homely. Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
