Help Upper Highway Baby Home by donating building materials for the establishment of a vegetable garden
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
We are establishing a vegetable garden in order to become more self sustainable in order to help feed our beneficiaries (both babies in our baby home and vulnerable poor babies and young moms on our Outreach). We have a patch of land available and need to construct a secure enclosure to prevent monkeys and other animals from damaging the crop. The size is 20 metres by 6 metres wide (phase one). We are able to expand this to 40 metres by 10 metres for phase two. We require the following materials: 15 three metre pre treated wooden poles 180 sqm chicken wire 2 metre high gate Cement and nails Spades and other equipment for the above work Labour if possible This would make an excellent Mandela Day project!
Helpful tips
Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
- 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
- 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
- 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
- 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
