My NMM Mentor & I
I singed up for the NMM mentoring programme because I understand the importance of an outside view and I was looking for someone to bounce ideas off. My mentor helps me drive the business forward. As the mentoring partnership progressed I realized that his suggestions where not parallel with the business. We had a conversation about this and that is when the real mentoring begun.
This partnership opened my eyes and made me see a different view in terms of rolling out the product. We are in the packaging industry and knowing the environment is key in building a business strategy. My NMM mentor helped my business partner and I rethink the model, enabling us to redefine the business strategy. What I have appreciated the most is that he is in the industry my business is operating in; he knows the ins & outs, the do’s & don'ts. My mentor is so driven, he is always pushing my business partner and I to pick up speed. This experience taught me that talking and listening are important elements in a mentoring partnership. This has helped me verify my believe that you have to be clear about your objectives and that you can not be all things to all people. It is interesting to know how different people approach different situation. I now know that I also have something to contribute. Although the business needs funding for drastic impact through this mentorship programme I am growing and my business is growing. Thank you NMM for making this possible.
