World Read Aloud Day 2024
High School Heroes to the Rescue! Spreading the Love of Reading.
National Read Aloud Day Magic at Elsen Academy! It was a day filled with laughter, imagination, and the pure joy of shared stories as our incredible high school heroes spread the love of reading to our precious Foundation Phase learners! What an incredible way to celebrate National Read Aloud Day! From captivating readings and expressive voices to excited faces and infectious laughter, the magic of books filled our classrooms today. ✨ As many as 10% of children have a specific reading disorder or dyslexia according to the British Dyslexia Association. Dyslexia is a neurological difference and can have a significant impact during education, in the workplace and in everyday life. As each person is unique, so is everyone's experience of dyslexia. It can range from mild to severe, and it can co-occur with other specific learning difficulties. It usually runs in families and is a life-long condition. Many of our learners struggle with reading and often avoid having to read altogether, especially reading aloud which can cause a lot of anxiety. However, peer to peer reading and paired reading has a much more positive impact, which can be seen in the photos attached.
