Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Everyone knows the family unit is the cornerstone of society and every child needs a functional family to reach independence as well-adjusted individuals, with good values, able to make positive life choices and contribute to their communities and beyond. We appeal to you to continue to support specialised professional services, building loving, resilient families, able to deal with all their many challenges, and meet the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs of their offspring, from conception to adulthood. Our South African families face many challenges intergenerational poverty, inequality, crime, trauma and stress often resulting in mental health problems undermining their coping capacity (see addendum 1). We at Childline are serious about helping our clients to negotiate and overcome these difficulties. The services are aimed at both treatment and the prevention of: child abuse and neglect / gender based violence (GBV), STIs, HIV/Aids; alcohol / substance abuse; teen pregnancy through positive sexual reproductive health (SRH) groups; mental health problems such as suicide, depression, anxiety and psychotic episodes; and, behavioural and criminal problems.
