PROTEC Tongaat celebrates 2024 learners

Awards Day 6 December 2024, honoured the achievement of our 2024 learners

Prizes donated by Altron, CASIO, FFS Refiners, and Tongaat Hulett, were awarded to learners for 100% attendance and outstanding academic performance in Mathematics, Physical Science and English. Learners were recognized for steady and significant improvement, diligence, and consistent good work (70-79%), excellence (80-100%), and top overall performance in each grade. We awarded learners who completed their International Computer Driving License (ICDL) and all Grade 12 learners received a certificate of participation. Opening remarks by PROTEC alumni Ntando Ndimande, founder of Sky-High Innovations and prayer by Grade 12 learner, Omuhle Jele opened the event. PROTEC's National GM Operations Fannie Matumba thanked donors and acknowledged Tongaat as one of our best branches. Guest Speaker Lungani Simamane, Chief Navigating Officer, AMSOL and PROTEC alumni focused his address on the importance lifelong learning and innovation, and PROTEC's role in South Africa's quest to increase the number of STEM graduates. Two Grade 12 learners Kiara Choonoo and Shayur Bhagirathee expressed their appreciation. Other participants were Tongaat Hulett's Ragani Rangai, Sne Kunene and Mpumie Nqoko, and Bridget Bishenden from FFS Refiners. Long-standing donors include Tongaat Hulett, Victor Daitz, North Coast Courier, M & G Attridge Charitable Trust, FFS Refiners, Fulton Trust and PROTEC Alumni Snothando Mzobe and Phumlani Ngwenya. A special acknowledgment to Moodley Tharsarnia Grade 10, Brijnath Dashil Grade 11, and Moyo Khayelihle Shaun Grade 12 for achieving the Top Overall in their grade.
