Our journey with rhino started in 2003, when poaching was unheard of and when our rhinos roamed the bushveld blissfully without any human interference. But tragedy struck in 2014, when two of our beautiful rhino were butchered for their horns. Shambula who was expecting a calf and Insimbi our big alpha male rhino were poached. Our lives changed once and forever, knowing that the stakes were against our beautiful animals. Knowing that they will no longer have the freedom of walking without a guard, knowing that the sound of gun shot would mean another rhino being butchered. We started working long hours doing day and night patrols, walking the perimeters but soon realised that we could not do this on our own - we needed help - professional help and the best in the market. We employed anti poaching rangers from a local company in Polokwane who in turn employ only locals from the area and they have been protecting our rhino ever since.
