Alexandra Education Committee

The AEC exists to provide bursaries for academically promising leaners from low-income families in Alexandra for the full five years of education at well-resourced high schools. Through education, we seek to empower the next generation to achieve economic dignity and to create lasting positive change for the Alexandra community. All AEC bursars (from Grade 8 to Matric) attend extra lessons each Saturday in the essential gateway subjects. In addition, the AEC has a Saturday programme for Grade 7 learners from primary schools in Alexandra to prepare them for high school. Moreover, we provide training workshops for teachers from the Alexandra primary schools in Maths, English and Science.
