Mariners for Action (MFA) is committed to safeguarding marine ecosystems while promoting sustainable livelihoods for coastal communities in the five coastal counties of Kwale, Kilifi, Mombasa, Tana River, and Lamu. The organization focuses on enhancing the sustainable utilization of marine and aquatic ecosystems, resources, and their derivatives while combating poverty among youth and the broader community.MFA was established in response to critical environmental challenges, including the widespread capture of sea turtles, illegal mangrove logging, and the use of destructive fishing methods. These activities have severely impacted the health of marine environments and the economic stability of local communities.To address these issues, MFA promotes conservation practices, restores damaged ecosystems, and provides alternative livelihoods to reduce dependency on exploitative practices.
