About this campaign
Gender-based violence is still a major issue. More than half of South African women have experienced violence in a relationship. The social contract between men and women has been broken, with men failing women, not taking meaningful action or promoting real change.
This year, the #NOEXCUSE movement wants to make a difference, in a culturally impactful way, during 16 days of activism and beyond. #NOEXCUSE is asking men to join us and RenewALL. A vow from men to women and to society, that renews the social contract and calls upon men to take action far beyond 16 days of activism for no violence against women, in an effort to reduce the actual incidents of gender-based violence.
We’re asking men to:
- RE-NEW what you stand for in your relationship.
- RE-COMMIT to helping in the fight against GBV.
- And RE-BEL against the idea that you can't help.
This is a vow that holds men accountable to behave like champion men, use their strength for good and become a part of the solution to end gender-based violence. Men who make the vow can also wear a true badge of commitment and solidarity, the #NOEXCUSE vows ring. A symbol of men standing up for women. #NOEXCUSE is also providing free access to their Champions For Change anti-GBV programme.
Every man is responsible for ending gender-based violence, it’s time to #RenewALL.
This is how you can take action and RenewALL:
- Take your RenewALL vow on noexcusesa.com, share your commitment on social media using the hashtags #NOEXCUSE #RenewALLVow, and encourage your fellow champions to do the same.
- Take the FREE Champions For Change anti-GBV online course to learn more about the fundamentals of positive masculinity.
- Commit to assisting GBV Causes on forgood below.
You can also take part in the Tavern Activations that will take place in Durban, Limpopo, Cape Town and Alexandra - where you will renew your vow to stand for women. The same hand that abuses women, is the same hand that takes the vow to protect.
Be a man of your word!
