How can you help?

Help Ethelbert Child and Youth Care Centre with 10 volunteers for High School Students

Here's a little more info about this opportunity...

Inspire young minds, unlock potential, and help rewrite futures for vulnerable youth by volunteering as a STEM tutor at our child and youth care centre. Many of our high school students have faced significant trauma, disrupting their education and creating gaps in critical STEM skills. Your compassion, patience, and expertise can bridge these gaps, empowering learners to regain confidence, discover their strengths, and break cycles of disadvantage. Join us—your support could be the turning point in a young person's life, transforming struggle into success and resilience into achievement.

Helpful tips

Stay safe

  1. 1Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
  2. 2When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
  3. 3Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
  4. 4Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
  5. 5If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
  6. 6Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
  7. 7Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
