Help The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) by sponsoring maintenance existing / new Care Home vehicle for transporting cancer patients to treatment sessions
Here's a little more info about this opportunity...
Our CANSA Care Homes https://cansa.org.za/cansas-care-support/cansa-care-homes/ ensure that patients living far from treatment centres do not have to forgo cancer treatment. We can accommodate patients for an average of 6 weeks while they receive treatment and provide transport to and from treatment centres. Most of our Care Homes provide meals (a few are self-catering) and emotional support and information regarding cancer is provided to patients. We would like our Care Homes to continue being a home-away-from-home to patients by enabling these facilities to be self-sufficient. As with many other businesses, loadshedding and drought have impacted the service we are able to provide negatively. We appeal to the public and workplaces to sponsor their nearest CANSA Care Home with solar power (panels) / generators and water tanks to minimise discomfort to patients during their stay. Vehicles used to transport patients to treatment also require maintenance and we would love to start growing our own vegetables at each Care Home if there are garden centres, nurseries, or members of the community willing to help us initiate this project. Please contact Gavin Kester Service Manager CANSA Care Homes gkester@cansa.org.za in this regard.

Helpful tips
Stay safe
- 1. Don’t pass any personal information to people you haven’t met offline before.
- 2. When meeting one of your contacts offline for the first time, always be sure to arrange to meet in a public place.
- 3. Make sure that you are not left alone with someone that you have never met before.
- 4. Know where you’re going. If you’re headed off the beaten track or into an unfamiliar part of town, be sure you have directions and a GPS or map book.
- 5. If you feel unsafe, consult the person in charge and let him or her know.
- 6. Avoid wearing expensive jewellery: it could get damaged, lost or stolen.
- 7. Ask, ask, ask! If you’re worried about something or concerned about your safety in a certain situation, ask the person in charge.
