Fatherhood changes fathers perspectives.
Our Fatherhood training saw fathers recognise the impact violence on their child
During session 3 a father that was referred by The Parent Centre counselling team reported “The training is something I needed as I thought as a father, I knew everything. A few months ago, I made a huge mistake and paid for it. I beat my child so badly that I landed in jail for 90 days. The training has made me realise the way I behaved is not in the best interest of my children and family. In both sessions we discussed communication and tips for being a good father will assist me in my new parenting journey.” The bravery of the above story of this father encourages another father to share. “I have a 10-year-old daughter with whom I had an argument over not packing away her socks. I also beat her and was reported to DSD and had to “appear” in front of a social worker. I was referred to for the Fatherhood training and I must say that this has helped me so far. I feel comfortable to share with other men as we have similar stories. After day one of the training, I started implementing already and can see some changes in myself and learnt to choose my battles with my child.”
