Your NGO: Sello SA Tlou Empowers Youth

Sello SA Tlou Theatre Group and Youth Development Centre is a Thembisa organisation dedicated to building thriving communities, and they believe empowered youth are an important part of that. The initiative aims to encourage fresh approaches to dealing with the complex issues that affect the community’s youngsters. According to Mcdonald Sello Malebana, the founder, empowering the youth helps them realise and value the importance of education, as well as providing them with the opportunity to make better decisions and expand their job alternatives. “The practice of supporting young people and providing them with the information, guidance or tools they need to take control of their lives and make healthy decisions is important amongst our youth empowerment. When youth are empowered, they have access to the opportunities, skills and resources they need to achieve their full potential.” The organisation teaches young people cultural dances and provides a forum for them to express their talent via dancing. It also provides the youth with basic computer skills.
