Phoenix Child Welfare Childrens Home
Our Children's home was established as PCW saw a need for a Com children's Home
Our core function is child protection and the removal of vulnerable children from their families is a traumatic experience for a child. Placing children in a CYCC means we not only remove them from their families , we also remove them from their communities and everything that is familiar to them. This trauma can lead to psychological and emotional distress and causes children to regress. Communities provides children with a context for building relationships. These relationships are built over time and they form a foundation for the emotional, physical and psychological development of a child. That is why it is so important for children to remain in familiar surroundings hence the reason for a children's home in our community. This lessons the impact of trauma and secondary trauma to a child. Our Children's home is in the heart of Phoenix and can accommodate 24 children on completion. Its equipped with a baby box that allows mothers the opportunity to place their babies in a safe secure environment as apposed to abandoning their baby where they are exposed to harsh conditions. Our goal is to provide a safe environment for children while working to preserve and restore their families
