Life-skills development amongst the youth in South Africa is critical as the majority come from poor, disadvantaged backgrounds. The youth face many daily challenges, including gangs, violence, drug and alcohol abuse, absent parents, exposure to high-risk sexual behaviour and peer pressure. MOT SA ensures that 13 000 youth gain self-awareness, courage, resilience and life-skills to make conscious choices, to build healthy relationships, and accept responsibility for their behaviour and future. Challenge: The need for life-skills training amongst the youth is critical as 75% of our youth come from very poor disadvantaged backgrounds, in which parental guidance is often lacking. MOT SA is the only organisation providing life-skills training at TVET Colleges in the Western Cape, and focuses on High Schools where it is most needed.
