Math Moms

MathMoms is a women's initiative that builds confident communities, one maths empowered child at a time. We seek to develop community levels by following a holistic and multilevel approach: - We train and up-skill unemployed adults to become mathematics tutors to foundation phase learners in their communities - Develop learners' mathematical and literacy skills through personal interaction and care, learning through play, and the creation of safer spaces where learners can feel secure, learn, and flourish - We nurture healthy and supportive intergenerational relationships through everyday acts of care, and by providing trauma support to the adults and the learners in our programmes. - We promote parental involvement at schools. Our approach can be summarised by our Triangle of Trust, which consists of nurturing love (based on positive attachments), skills transfer, and relationship building.
