Wash 4 Life (Schools Hygiene Campaign)
Life 4 U Foundation (Wash 4 Life) schools toilets Hygiene Campaign@Mashimong Primary School. The primary objective of this project is to reduce the incidence of water and sanitation-related diseases and sicknesses, and protect children and youth rights by ensuring that they use clean non-dysfunctional toilets.
Wash 4 Life Team led by program Facilitator Celani with Simon, Mpho and Andronica. Many learners in rural and township schools are exposed to unhygienic health hazard conditions due to insufficient and broken toilet facilities, vandalism and lack of hygiene knowledge. Having access to sanitation is a basic human right, yet most of Rural and township schools suffer on a daily basis from a lack of access to a clean and functioning toilet. The issue runs deeper into societal impacts, such as rural teenage girls often leaving school at the onset of menstruation due to lack of privacy and the risk of attack or rape associated with being forced to defecate in the open.
