Kidz Positive Foundation

The Positive Beadwork Project is an income generating project for mothers and caregivers of HIV positive children. Each week they are provided with raw materials to produce beadwork at home. They are paid for each unit of beadwork completed. These items vary from simple beaded Aids pins to complex bespoke artworks for various corporate and private clients. Parents of HIV Positive children frequently face challenges of poor education, single parenthood, poverty, mental and physical ill-health, stigma and social isolation. The Foundation has a long term goal of teaching these women valuable life skills such as budgeting, sales skills and providing early childhood development resources for their children, to give them a good start in life. We aim to address and assist the many challenges facing these mothers. The serious consequences of inadequate school readiness impacts on potential developmental skills and self-confidence.
