Dexter and Matu Zama Academy

Dexter and Matu Zama Academy (DMZ) focuses on the literacy and numeracy needs of children. The aim of the Academy is make the children confident and able to manage mathematical problems. Fluent literacy would enable the children to communicate and write well, standing them in good stead for the future. Women are trained in sewing, in order to assist them to produce items such as aprons, bags and pin cushions. These items are sold in order to earn an income. Food preservation skills are also taught so that the women preserve their excess vegetable production. Preserving the excess vegetables makes it possible to save, as money that would have been used to buy vegetables can be put to better use.
