Enrichment day for the meerkats!

Tiki and Gaspar went for a walk outside DAKTARI's camp

Once upon a sunny day at DAKTARI's camp, our two curious meerkats, Tiki and Gaspar, went for a walk outside Daktari’s camp accompanied by some of the volunteers. Eager to explore new places and meet other animals, it was hard to follow them ! Along this journey, they crossed the way of the horses, the ostriches, they had a staring contest with Scruffball (our serval) and they ate a lot of ants. This is part of the enrichment process, and it allows them to stimulate all their senses. It is a vital component of caring for animals in captivity. It promotes physical and mental well-being, prevents boredom, encourages natural behaviors, enhances cognitive abilities, supports emotional welfare, and contributes to research and conservation efforts. By providing enriching experiences, organizations like DAKTARI strive to ensure that animals live fulfilling lives in captivity, as close to their natural habitats as possible.
