Maths is Fun! Day

On the 17th of August, a "Maths is Fun" event was held at the Bonteheuwel High School to help interest learners in Mathematics. The event was extremely successful, hosting over 150 learners from the Bonteheuwel Community.

“Maths is fundamental to a good education.” says Professor Emeritus of Mathematics Garry Knight, “yet so many people fear it. “Maths is fun” day is designed to interest learners in Mathematics, showing them it can be a lot of fun and filled with interesting challenges. It is truly exciting and could even be a great career choice. Of course, we hope to impart a few thinking skills along with the fun” This Saturday 17th August the “Maths is Fun” event will take place at Bonteheuwel High School starting from 08h30 and run until 14h30. Activities will include a fun physical exercise as well as experiential classes with a welcome performed by the Bonteheuwel High School Band. All schools within the Bonteheuwel Community are excited to participate with over 150 learners from Grade’s 6, 7 and 8 signed up already. The Amy Foundation wants to ensure that they continue to make a difference in the lives of the youth in the Bonteheuwel Community. “We would like to encourage all learners and reassure them that Maths is not difficult at all but Fun!’ says Liezel Solomons – Centre Coordinator for Mimosa PS and Bonteheuwel HS.
